Afua Asantewaa Owusu’s Guinness World Record Breaking Journey is an amazing feat of endurance, passion, and patriotism. She decided to challenge herself and showcase Ghanaian music and culture by singing for more than 117 hours in a row, using only songs from Ghana.
She started her singathon on December 24, 2023, at Akwaaba Village, near Hajj Village, and plans to end it on December 27, 2023. She hopes to break the previous record of 116 hours and 31 minutes, set by Sunil Waghmare from India in 20121.
To prepare for this journey, Afua Asantewaa Owusu had to train her voice, body, and mind. She practiced singing for long hours, drank plenty of water and honey, ate healthy foods, and meditated. She also had to choose a variety of songs that would keep her and her audience entertained and motivated.
