Once upon a time, there was a village named Ejime, Ejime is the land of fertile and also is the largest among the other village. But one thing about them was that they forbid stranger entering their village, because according to them is a taboo.
Any stranger they see in their land will be stone to death because that have always been their custom right from Time. everything was going well for the people of Ejime village, not until one day the unexpected began to happen in their kingdom.

One afternoon, the king’s son who was just 2yrs old, was playing in the palace, when all of a sudden he fell down and started convulsing, before the king and the queen could do anything to save their son nnamdi, it was already too late because the boy have died.
Queen: (crying) nnamdi! please wake up don’t leave me
king : nnamdi! nnamdi!!!! (he sobbed shaking his son who was dead)
Queen: gods of our land, you can’t do this to me by taking my only child from me, please bring him back to me (she said crying bitterly because nnamdi was their only child, After everything, the king buried his little son nnamdi and the villagers mourned for him, but still the king didn’t know the cause of his son’s death)

Some months later, the queen became pregnant and the king was very happy that his wife the queen is pregnant, at least that one will give him hope again of been a father, the elders of the village all came to the palace to congratulate the king of his wife been pregnant.

As all this was going on, nine months later, the queen went into labor, and the king summoned the mid wife to come and help her deliver her baby, when the mid wife came, she took the queen to her chamber and told her to push her baby because the baby was coming forth, so the queen used her strength and pushed the baby and it came out, lo and behold it was a baby boy.
Mid wife: (smiling) my queen, is a baby boy and I know the king will be very happy if hears this
Queen: thanks be to gods of our for giving me another son to replace the dead one (the queen said with tears of joy)
Midwife : let me go outside to inform the king (the midwife ran outside excitedly to tell the king who was pacing around waiting to hear the news)
King :has she giving birth?
midwife: yes your highness, our queen have given birth to a bouncing baby boy (she said and the king jumped up for joy)
king: (excited) this is a good news, I can’t wait to see my son and my beautiful wife, I hope she’s okay?
midwife: yes your highness, she and the baby are doing fine, come and see them (she said and the king excitedly followed her to the queen’s chamber, when they got to the chamber, the king went to where the queen was lying and kissed her forehead and the queen smiled)
King :Thank you my beautiful wife for giving me this precious gift as a son
Queen :may the gods of our land be praise for giving us this gift to replace the dead one
king : thanks to gods of our land, anyway I can’t wait to carry my son, the new prince of this kingdom (he happily said and went to where the baby was lying and wanted to carry him but found out that the baby’s body was very cold and also he noticed that the baby was no longer breathing)

King : what is happening?
midwife: (confused) How your highness?
king : is like this baby is no more breathing
Queen : No that can’t be possible, The baby was okay before, no I don’t want to believe that something have happened to my baby (she said with her heart beating fast)
Midwife: that can’t be possible, let me check him ( so the midwife stood up and go to check the baby, but on getting to where the baby lie, she found out that was dead, when the queen also saw this, she fell down instantly and collapse)
midwife: (shaking the queen) my queen! my queen
King : my queen! don’t do this to me, please wake up (he screamed and was shaking the queen, but she wasn’t responding, so send three of his guards to go and summon the village native doctor which they did, in no time the native doctor came and after that he did some incantation and splash some liquid something on the Queen’s face, not too long she was revived and after that she started crying for the death of her baby and the king and midwife were consoling her, while the native doctor left, after everything the king later buried his child that same day)

The next day morning, the elders of the village came to the palace to sympathize with the king because they heard the news of what happened to their baby.
Elder Akumo: my king, am very sorry for your loss, please accept my sympathy
Elder mba : I was very shocked when I heard the news of the death of your new baby, but what baffles me most was that I heard that the baby was healthy when they delivered him, not too long after that he died, this is really strange
Elder okeke : really strange indeed, what can could actually be the cause of his death
king : hmm….. we don’t really know what happened to the baby, he just died like that and is still surprised me what really happened to him
Elder Anene : am suspecting that something is wrong somewhere because things is beginning to happen in this village, was it not yesterday the son of Adamma the widow died just like that without any illness
Elder Akumo : And even this morning, we heard that ojemba the palm wine tapper fell from the palm tree and died (he said and shake his head)
king : (shock) what!! you mean ojemba is dead, why didn’t you people tell me this on time
Elder mba: your highness, you know you just lost your new baby, that was why we don’t want to tell you yet because we know that you are going through a lot now and besides we just heard the news of ojemba’s death this morning (he said and the king shake his head in pity)
Elder Anene: my king, so how is the queen, how is she cop……… (he have not finish his statement when they started hearing cries outside)
Elder Akumo: what is that cry all about, are you people hearing what am hearing?
King : yes am hearing it, I think we should go outside to know what is going on (he said and then he and his cabinets all went outside to know what is going on, as they got outside the palace, they were surprised to see two maidens lying dead, with some of the villagers crying)

king : what is going on here, and what happened to these maidens
woman: (crying) igwe….. am finished, they are my daughters, we were all eating when all of a sudden, a heavy thunder blow and they fell down and started vomiting blood, before I could do anything to save them, they are already dead, igwe please help me, they are my only children and am a widow, please ooo igwe help me, help me, I can’t loose them just like that (she fell on the ground rolling herself)
Elder Akumo: Aruooo… (abomination) the worst has happened
king: please woman, take it easy on yourself, I know how you feel by losing your two children at the same time, and am sorry for that, but don’t worry I will look into the matter, for now go and bury them, in case if you need anything, don’t hesitate to let me kno………. (the king have not finish his statement when obato the hunter came crying)
king: our great hunter, what is the problem? (he asked but obato refused to talk, because he was still crying)
Elder okeke: obato, stop crying like a woman and tell us what the problem is?
obato: (sobbing) igwe….. my only son
king : you mean nnamdi your son?
obato: yes ooooo igwe (he fell on the ground still sobbing)
king : what happen to nnamdi?
elder mba : (curious) obato what happen to your son?
obato: igwe…… my so…… my son nnamdi is dead ooo…. ( he said and the king and the elders where very shocked on what he said, and likewise the villagers who was there, were also shocked)
king : no it can’t be, how come, when did this happened? (he asked surprisedly)
Elder Anene: Aru ozo (another abomination)
king : obato! how did it happened?
obato : (still sobbing) my king, I was in the farm searching for animals, after searching but couldn’t find any, so I decided to go home since I didn’t see any animal to hunt, as I turned to leave, suddenly I saw a bush meat from afar, so I took out my gun and shot at it, I was very happy that I killed a Bush meat, so when I got closer to get the Bush meat I shot, I was surprised that it was my only son nnamdi that I shot and not a Bush meat, but what surprise me most was that I saw the bush meat before shooting on it, but how it changed to my son I don’t know, igwe please do something, nnamdi is my only child and you know my wife is now old and can not give birth to another child, please igwe do something ooooo ( he sobbed the more, the king and the elders shake their heads in pity)
king :(sighed) obato please take heart, I know how you feel and am really confused on what is happening, but don’t worry, I and the elders will look into this matter because this is getting out of hand, but for now you people should go and bury your dead ones (he said and obata, the woman, and the villagers all left to bury their dead ones)

The next day at the palace
.
The king was seen talking to his cabinets.
King : (worried tone) Am not happy the way things are going on in this village, and the worst part is that we don’t know the cause of what is happening, am not really happy at all
Elder okeke: even we the elders of this land are not happy too of what is happening in this our kingdom, people are dying everyday, and sickness everywhere, without we knowing the cause of it
Elder Akumo: And the worst part is our crops are no longer producing food like before that was why the kingdom is suffering from starvation
Elder Anene: please your highness, we have to do something about this before it gets out of hand
king :(sighed heavily) my elders, am really confus……… (he have not finish his statement before the queen rushed inside interrupting their discussion)
king : my queen, what is the matter and why are you running as if you are been chased by a ghost?
Queen: (breathing heavily) my king, something terrible just happened now, my eyes have seen the worst
Elder mba: our queen, what happened? To be added to WhatsApp group Msg me on zero eight one thirty-nine seventy seven seventy eight eighty seven. please tell us
King: my queen please tell us what happen?
Queen: (still breathing heavily) my king, I went to the kitchen to cook, as I got there, I took one yam which I will cook, as I wanted to peel it, suddenly the yam turned into a stone, as if that was not enough, the knife I was holding also disappeared, please my husband this is getting out of hand, you have to do something to stop all this calamity happening…..( as the queen was still talking, one of the village maiden rushed in crying)
king : who are you young maiden and why are crying? (he asked but the maiden refused to talk as she was busy crying)
Elder okeke: our king is asking you and you are not talking, young maiden tell us what the problem is because this cry you are crying now will not solve the problem, so open up and tell us what the problem is?
Ebele : (crying) igwe…. my name is ebele, and iam the daughter of late oforna
king :ok ebele, what is the matter and why are you crying?
Ebele: (still crying) igwe…. I and my mother was going to farm, as we are going along the road, an unknown arrow hit her on the chest and she fell down and turned into ashes
King : what!!!
Elder Anene: Aru ooo (abomination)
Elder okeke: chai….. the worst have happened in this kingdom
Queen: my husband you have to find solution to all this because this is getting out of hand
king :hmmmmm…… ebele, I have heard all what you said and am sorry for what happened to your mother, but don’t worry I wi………. (he have not finish talking when a young man rushed in sobbing, when the king saw him, he knew that something again have happened)
king :young man what is the matter?
young man: (sobbing) my king am finished, am finished ooo
Elder Akumo: young man stop crying like a woman and tell us what the problem is?
young man: (still sobbing) I was on my farm watering my crops, as I was watering them, right before my eyes the all crops all dried up, please your highness, that is where I feed on, you need to do something about this

Elder okeke: this is getting serious day by day
king : hmmm…. young man, am really sorry for what happened to your crops, but for now, you will go home, I will do something about it, I was still discussing with my cabinets concerning the issue before ebele and you came, don’t worry, the two of you should go, let me and my cabinets talk about finding solution to end all this calamity happening in our land (he said, so the young man and ebele left)
Queen : please you people should find solution to end all this things happening (she said and also left for her chamber)
king : my elders, what are we going to do now concerning the things happening in our kingdom? because we can’t continue to keep quiet anymore, we need to find solution to all this things, so what are we going to do?
Elder Akumo: I think the best thing to do is to summon mmiri the great native doctor of our land
Elder mba: yes I agree with Akumo, to summon mmiri, I think he will find solution to our problem
king : (sighed) you have all spoken well my elders, and I think is a good idea, so in that case I shall summon mmiri in two days Time, is it okay by you?
Elder okeke: yes your highness, two days is okay (he said and the others agreed )

Two days later, the king summoned mmiri the native doctor to tell them the cause of their problem and solution to it, after mmiri did some incantation, he told the king and the elders that the gods is silent and refused to reveal to him the cause of the calamity happening in the land, so they discharged him and summon another native doctor, but still the native doctor they summoned couldn’t find the cause and the solution to their problem.

As all this was going on, the villagers continue to die and terrible things continue to happen in the land.
Some months later, the queen became pregnant again, and when it was time to deliver the baby, she delivered it successfully and after some minutes, the baby later died, this continue and continue, anytime the queen deliver her baby, the baby will end up and die, this began to troubled the king and the queen alot.

One day the queen was in her chamber crying because of what have been happening to her.
Queen: (crying)gods of our land, this is too much for me to bear, how can I carried a child in my womb for nine months, at the end of it when I deliver it, the child will end up dying, for how long will I continue like this, or have I committed any crime that is killing all my children, I have giving birth to eight children, but at the end of it, they ended up dying, does it mean that non of my children will stay alive for me? and I and my husband the king are not getting any younger, please gods of our land bless us with a child that will stay alive for us, even though is one we will appreciate it (as the queen was still lamenting, the king came inside her chamber)

King : my queen, are you still crying? please stop crying, is only the gods that knows why our children are dying, he gives and he takes, so please stop crying my wife
Queen: but my husband, the dying of our children is too much, does it mean that the gods don’t want us to have any children?
king : don’t talk like that my queen, it also hurt me too but we can not question the gods of our land, just look at what is happening in our kingdom, people are dying everyday, the starvation is becoming too much, strange things are happening without we knowing the cause of it, and you think is ordinary, and is still that same thing happening in our land that is affecting us too which I strongly believe.
queen: no my king, I don’t think to that the things happening in our land have something to do with our children who have been dying, please my husband, you have to do something to our predicament Because if I deliver another baby and the baby die again, I will kill myself (she said and cried the more, while the king console her)

*Some days later*

Two maidens were going to the stream to fetch water, as they were going they were talking, not too long they got to the stream, on getting there, they went to fill their pots with water, as they bend with their pots to collect water, immediately the stream turned to blood and swallowed the two maidens, when another maiden who was coming to the stream to fetch water saw this, she screamed throwing her pot away, and she ran to the palace to tell the king what she saw.
The king was with the queen at that moment, when the maiden rushed in with tears and at the same time she was panicking.
King : young maiden, what is the problem?
maiden: (panicking) your highness, something terrible have happened again
king : something terrible? what is it, speak up
maiden: m…..my king, I was going to the stream to fetch water, right before my eyes, I saw the stream turned into blood and swallowed two of our maidens who are fetching water from the stream
Queen: oh no, not again
king : this is getting out of hand, I can’t take this anymore, enough is enough, I need to do something about this because if we continue to keep quiet, we will all perish, Oliseh! Oliseh!! (he called one of his guard)
Oliseh: yes your highness, you called me
king : yes I called you, I want you to take two more guards with you, three of you should go to my cabinets and tell them that there is a urgent meeting in the palace, that They should come right away (he ordered)
Oliseh: ok your highness I will do just as you said ( and he left with the other guards to the cabinets houses to inform them of what the king said)
king : my daughter you can go, I have heard what you said don’t worry, I and my cabinets will look into the matter (he said and the maiden left, not too long the king’s cabinets all came to the palace)

Elder Anene: but the question now is, what do we do to end all this calamity, remember we have summoned mmiri the great native doctor of our land, but he didn’t tell us the cause and solution to our problem, we also summoned abani the great native doctor of isieke village but still he was unable to find the cause and solution to all this, even though we still summon another native doctor, is still the same thing they will say
Elder mba: so does it mean we should fold our hands without finding solution to our problem? that mmiri and abani failed us doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try other ones, if we keep quiet we might all die in a twinkle of an eye, nobody knows who is next to die, it might be me or you (he said pointing himself and the other elders)
king : it might even be me, nobody knows who will be the next to die, so the question now is what do we do to end all this calamity happening in our kingdom?
Elder Akumo: Am really confuse because I don’t know what to say
king : you have to say something, that was why I called for this meeting
Elder okeke: hmmmm…….. I think I remember something
king : And what is it okeke?
Elder okeke: I think we should summon priestess Adaeze
Elder mba: priestess Adaeze? and who is she because I haven’t heard of that name in my entire life before
king : (confuse) okeke! who is this priestess Adaeze you are talking about?
Elder okeke: she is the great priestess of the seven seas, she sees the future and she live inside a cave, she is an old goddess not less than 140yrs, but main looking at her you will think that she is just a girl of 15yrs, she never get old physical but in spiritual realm she is an old goddess, and she had been like that ever since I know her and also she is visible and invisible

King : but okeke, how come you know about this priestess

Elder mba: if that is the case, I think we should summon her
King : Okeke! I think we will summon her tomorrow, at least let’s try her (he said and the cabinets nod their heads in agreement)
Elder okeke: yes is a good idea to summon her my king, but the problem is, it will not be easy to summon her because she’s not an ordinary person, to summon her need a requirements
King : (confused) requirements? what requirements are you talking about okeke please clearify us
Elder okeke: (sighed) the priestess represent the seven seas, and all her requirements will be seven, which include seven white she goats, seven white hen, seven white female grass cutter, and seven white Calabash
Elder mba :Ah…. The requirements is too much, and besides how are we going to know a female grass cutter, not just a female but a white one for that matter
King : (shake head) this is very serious
Elder okeke: we can see all this requirements in the market, but although it will be very hard to see them, and secondly the journey to her cave will take up to five days
king: five what!!!
Elder okeke: five days my king
king : won’t the whole villagers perish before that five days?
Elder okeke: your highness, the most important thing is to get the requirements and take it to the cave for the priestess
Elder Anene: (sighed heavily) So when do we get all this requirement because the more we are wasting time is the more terrible things continue to happen
king : yes Anene is right, the more we are delaying is the more things continue to happen in our land, and as for the requirements we will try and get it tomorrow or so and you my cabinets will take it to the priestess, I hope I have spoken well?
Elders : yes your highness, you have spoken well (they choroused at the same time, after that the elders left the palace and went to their various home)

That same day, four people died in the village with an unknown illness, and later again two children died in their sleep.

That same day, four people died in the village with an unknown illness, and later again two children died in their sleep, The villagers were in mourning, people were crying for their dead ones, when they couldn’t take it anymore, they all marched to the palace and told the king to do something about the calamity happening in their land and the King assured them that very soon they will find solution to all this happening in their land.
Note: because of all this things happening in Ejime village, every other village have bond them from entering their village, they said they are cursed that is why calamity is happening in their land and Because of this, they bound them from entering their village, that was why the people of Ejime village have no where to run to and they still remain in their village to find the cause and solution to their problem .

Two days later, the elders got the requirements which they will give to the priestess and from there they journey to her cave, but the king didn’t go with them, he only tell his cabinets what to do.
The journey to the cave took them for five days before they got there, when they got there they didn’t see the priestess but only heard her voice because at that time she was invisible, they dropped the requirements for her and she told them that they should expect her in seven days time, although she knew the reason why they came, and after that the elders went back to their village and told the king what the priestess said and also they told him that they didn’t see the priestess but only heard her voice.

The king could be seen in the palace with his cabinets, they were discussing and also waiting for the priestess to come.
King : what is still keeping the priestess from coming, is already getting dark and still she haven’t come. Okeke! are you sure that the priestess will come today?
Elder okeke: Yes my king, she told us to expect her in seven days time and today is the seven days, don’t worry my king I believe she will come
King : (worried tone) when will she come, is already getting dark
Elder mba: my king, I think we should have patience because she told us th……… (he have not finish his statement when all of a sudden, the palace started shaking and also a very heavy breeze was blowing, not too long they heard a loud laugh, they became frightened and started looking around to know where the laugh was coming from, the laugh became louder and louder, with fear Elder Anene stood up to run for his dare life, but before he could run, the priestess appeared in front of him, when he saw the priestess, he wanted to run back ward but mistakenly he slipped and fell down, immediately he stood up from the ground and ran back to his seat, when the king and the other elders saw the priestess, they were very surprised to see a beautiful girl of 15yrs standing in front of them

when the king and the other elders saw the priestess, they were very surprised to see beautiful a girl of 15yrs standing in front of them, but okeke was not surprise because that wasn’t the first time he was seeing her.
Priestess : (in a tiny loud voice) you summoned me, here IAM
Elder okeke: (bowing) greetings to you the great priestess
Elder mba : she is a little girl and I wonder where she get her power from (he whispered to elder Anene)
Priestess : (in a loud and tiny voice) one more word from you, I shall turn you into a staff (talking to elder mba)
Elder mba : (with fear) Am sorry great priestess (he apologized and hold his mouth with his hand)
King : you are welcome to my palace, the great prieste………. (the king have not his statement, before the priestess started perceiving smell)
Priestess : hmm…hmm…. everywhere is smelling (she said and all of them was confuse on what the priestess was talking about because they knew that the palace was clean and wasn’t smelling)
King : great priestess, what smell are you talking about because I know that the maids clean the whole palace today
Elder okeke: yes great priestess, they cleaned the whole palace today, isn’t it my king
King : (confuse) yes it is, the maids clean the palace today
Priestess : (in a loud voice) stop your blasphemy, I mean everywhere in this palace is smelling death, the village is also smelling death and even the air coming inside the palace is smelling death, death! death!! death!!! that is what am perceiving now
King : death!! great priestess yes we know that death and terrible things have been happening in our land, that was we summoned you so that you will tell us the cause and the solution to our problem
Elder okeke : please great priestess, what could be the cause of the calamity happening in our land, please tell us
Priestess : hmmm…… you are the cause of your problem
Elder mba : we! how??
King : (confuse) great priestess, how are we the cause of our problem?
Priestess : Yes you are the cause of your problem, the great goddess of the seven seas have revealed everything to me, the moment your cabinets left my cave
Elder Anene: great priestess of the sea, we still don’t understand, how we are the cause of our problem, please clear our doubt, we are confuse here
Priestess : your problem started the day you killed one particular stranger that came into your land
Elder Akumo: Stranger?? yes we know we have been killing strangers because that have been our custom right from time, so which of the stranger are you talking about great priestess (he said and others nodded their heads)
Priestess : hmmm….. the stranger you killed seven years ago
King : great priestess, we still don’t understand, yes we have been killing strangers, but we still don’t know the exact one you are talking about, anyway that was by the way, please tell us the solution to all this calamity happening in our kingdom
Priestess : (in angry tone) you didn’t even let me finish what I was saying and you are asking for solution, you don’t care about the Stranger you killed because you feel is just an ordinary stranger, but your highness, one thing you did not know was that the stranger you killed seven years ago happens to be your son and your next successor to your throne (she said and they were all shocked on what the priestess said)
